didn't kill any of those 12 frigates because the RNG hates me. Did kill another island city though. Does anyone want to give us Odds on the survival of Occam?

Harry, what's the rough EOT for getting the 1000 Gold returned? I'm planning on cash rushing Grenadiers/Ships of the Line, and the happy situation won't let me stay in Universal Suffrage for too much longer.
Trolls have Military Science, so expect Ships of the Line and Grenadiers. (Does anyone actually use SotL?)

I'll try to pay back 500 per turn over the next couple of turns, but I've got some potential for upgrading to grenadiers too, which I think may be necessary for Occam to survive. T205 is our crunch turn, so you can definitely have it after that, would that be too late?
Just jumped in to have a look at what Trolls did to us - they killed our remaining frigates on our south coast, but are down to 5 frigates themselves. They took Oathkeeper from us but surprisingly kept it. I wonder if that's an opportunity?

That should be fine.

On an unrelated note, you would not believe how fun and frustrating it is to mess up songs.

"I'm looking down the barrels of over 30 cannons! Now how on earth do I defend against them? That's over 200 collateral hits - if I stuffed 100 units into the city they would each be knocked down by 20% even before the overwhelming-odds attacks began!"
Flanking 2 Cavalry, giving you a 60% chance of retreating/flanking? Throw in the fact that Catapults and Cannons can be selected for collateral damage but don't actually receive any, meaning that they're 'free' collateral absorbers?
In retrospect, I should've researched Military Tradition.

Second the flanking II cavalry, if you can get them (in large numbers obviously). I was afraid of that in our game; you don't know how glad I was you used all the promotions on the one cavalry with experience in your cavalry stack so there was no blue glow and I knew the rest had no promos available (that is how it works, right? If not, could help explain why things came out even worse than I simmed).
Anyway, I haven't checked in here for days; looks like not much has been said. I got an invitation to a gmail hangout while I was out; is there anything I need to know? To be honest I haven't looked in-game or talked with HAK in ages; I don't think I can truthfully say I'm really involved with this game anymore. If you do need anything, HAK, do let me know; I don't want to leave you without a backup turnplayer or anything, and if anyone wants to chat me up about anything, related or un-, by all means; I'm just kinda done with Civ MP (other than watching) for a while. Anyway, tally-ho,
THH

Well we could have Cuirs in five turns, except that I still owe thestick 1000 gold... How are you guys doing for cavalry at the moment?
I just got this from Plako: "Hi,
It seems to me this war is soon reaching status quo. If you're intrested, we could start discussing about the terms of peace. I'm sure we could find a way to make it worthwhile for both of us."
Basically they've taken as many cities as they could, they can't take Occam and their stack is sitting in our culture costing them a lot of money. Meanwhile our naval action is keeping a lot of units (around 30) pinned down in their coastal cities. (Actually they could perhaps take Halberd this turn or next turn, but that isn't the point.)
So we can try to hold them at war if you think you guys can do some damage come t210? If they try to get their stack out of our culture to come after you we can hit it on flat ground doing a lot of damage, but not killing every unit (maybe half) meaning that you would need to be ready to mop it up. If you don't think you can hurt them then I think we should probably concede the game. I'm still enjoying myself playing but I don't see any way we're going to overtake Trolls, so I'm happy to carry on. If you guys are bored lets concede, if you want to have a nice big fight then lets play on!
What do you reckon?

Just FYI Plako is offering peace if we agree not to gift away our army.
As we owe you guys quite a lot of that army I can't agree to that, if we paid back approx 2500 hammers of units to M3 and 1400 golds worth of units and gold to pirates that's a reasonable interest rate (about 5%). So Trolls might go for that. Would that leave you with a chance to hurt them or is that just setting you up for the slaughter we've just had?
I'll assume we're staying at war for the foreseeable future, can you guys give an update on what your armies/defences/attacks are like?

Until Harry sent me an email didn't know u guys were still using this forum. Oops.
Anyway I'll check my military when I get hone and give an update. We'll be going just gold now to power upgrading stuff I know that much. In order for any attack by me to have any chance you need to still be at war. Otherwise he'll destroy what small stack I can send at him. That still may happen but I want to try to at least take one or two cities from him. What turn is it right now again?

I thought Occam would have fallen!
Since HAK is here: "If I recall, you can't attack Trolls until T220 right?" "We can attack T112, so assuming that Harry doesn't concede we'll probably keep those units. We have 1-2 turns left to Universal Suffrage out troops, so if you want you can give us Gold and we'll give you the resulting troops."
"I've paused the game. What is the current enthusiasm level in teams? I would be ready to end it. Maybe we could declare all of us winners. We all survived the test of time." -plako I'm considering accepting their offer, since there's pretty much no chance I'll rise above 4th place.
"How are you guys doing for cavalry at the moment?" -Old Harry I'm just Military Tradition away from Cavalry, except I'm still Universal Suffraging out troops. Actually, I think I'll change plans, stop drafting Rifles and start Universal Suffraging out Cavs.
Off the top of my head, army is about 30 Rifles 10-13 Grenadiers 20 Catapults 4 SotL.

I really want to go out in a blaze of glory. Or even just a blaze of blood...who cares about glory at this point. So I'd rather not concede until I see what happens when I throw a bunch of units at the Trolls. It'd be really cool if both us & Pirates do it at the same time. Since we could theoretically attack T210, we can easily wait until T212 (I assume that's what you meant) and we both charge it at the same time. That sure would be fun.

Just so you guys can see what is happening, we chose not to attack out, while Trolls realised that attacking cannons over the river was a losing proposition. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't attack, but you can't have everything. I'd guess they'll start to retreat now to prepare for your attacks. The question is: Is it worth us hitting them while they are still in our culture? Unless you guys can clean up the stack after us I really don't think it is. So a t210 declaration might allow it, but t212 is too late. What do you think?

I think we should just take the tie while we're ahead. Trolls are researching Steam Power and probably Railroads. Once they hit that, game over. Nothing beats Machine Guns save Cavalry, and they have enough Rifles to make Cavs an unappealing option.
